BioMed Center Innovation is a non-profit limited liability company, that is a company whose income is only to a small extent in the commercial sector but mainly in the acquisition of donations and charitable contributions. All profits are directed to charitable causes, in this case scientific research. Donations are therefore tax-deductible.
The management and administration consists of employees and is set up in such a way that the costs incurred are kept to a minimum. Daniel Seitz, whose main job is as a research assistant on research projects at the Institute, currently works part-time as Managing Director. The administrative costs of BioMed Center Innovation are thus always kept below 30%.
The owner of the company is the sole shareholder of the Förderverein BioMed Center Innovation e.V. This non-profit association also supports the activities of the gGmbH and performs the shareholder function. The shareholder of a non-profit GmbH does not receive any payments or benefits.
The BioMed Center Innovation gGmbH aims to conduct research in the medical field, with a focus on application-oriented research and the intention of implementing the results for the benefit of patients. To this end, the Institute maintains a broad network of scientific and clinical collaborations, ranging from regional to international. In particular, the extent of networking with doctors and clinics is unique in the region and important for generating ideas, validating and implementing research.
